The Friends of Moccasin Lake believe that it is imperative that one of the last truly natural green spaces in the most developed county in Florida must be protected and maintained for current and future generations to visit, learn and celebrate what "Old Florida" used to look like.
We ask that you visit our magnificent Nature Park and enjoy some birding, hiking, or just sit and enjoy the sounds of nature that few places can offer in today's ever changing and complicated world.
The park is open Wednesday - Sunday: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
(Trails close to new visitors at 4:15 p.m.)
Closed All City Recognized Holidays
Admission is FREE.
Moccasin Lake is a 51-acre nature preserve with trails and boardwalks under a canopy of mature oaks and across ponds and creeks, with an array of wildlife including gopher turtles, raccoons, and many birds.
It is home to several injured birds of prey. The park offers classes, programs, camps and meeting/reception rentals with both indoor and outdoor meeting space.
We offer the opportunity to look at many non-releasable Birds of Prey such as Bald Eagles, Red Tailed Hawks, a Red Shouldered Hawk, a Black Vulture, and some Eastern Screech Owls.
Our educational center has many program animals such as snakes, turtles, amphibians, and many non-vertebrates for you to enjoy viewing and learn about.
We can't save nature without you! And we have easy ways that you can get involved right now.
We may have sound science and lots of partners, but we can't do what we do without your support. There are many ways you can get involved - check 'em out! Click the GET INVOLVED tab.
